Mörkrost - "Dark Roast"
What the Swede's would call a "extra mörkrost kaffe" or to us an "extra dark roast coffee". This blend is a lovely smooth and much cleaner than expected dark roast. Very sweet, and smokey, with rich chocolate notes reminds us a lot of eating s'more's around the campfire. Without the harsh bitterness of many dark roasts this blend leans in to a sweet finish with a light mixed berry note that lingers.
While modern “Nordic” coffee is a super light roast looking to showcase those lovely floral and tea like notes. “Traditional” Swedish coffee is a dark, rich, and heavy roast. Traditionally, this coffee is brewed in a similar style to our “cowboy coffee” here in the United States (boil pot of water, throw coffee in, let simmer then drink). In modern times though coffee brewers are the preferred method albeit more coffee to water than we normally do here.
