The Banko Taratu community is located in the southern end of the Yirgacheffe District, Gedeo zone in Ethiopia. This is one of the highest elevated growing regions with an growing altitude of 1,900 to 2,300 meters above sea level. Coffee is an important resource for the community around Banko Taratu, with most being grown on small plots of land often in the farmer’s own garden. These small farmers bring their crops to the Banko Taratu washing station where the cherries are processed utilizing the washed method in order to de-pulp them. They are then soaked for 24-48 hours before being laid on raised beds to dry for 2 weeks.

This intensely vibrant coffee full of notes of deep red currant and honeydew melon. With a peach, lime and floral background.
